The Wheels On The Bus Go...

Hi everyone!

I've been so busy lately searching for ideas for my new grade one class! I love this time of year because it is when I spend my time finding new ideas and strategies for the next school year. It's always nice to reflect on what I've done and what I would like to try in the future.

I created a fun craft activity for the first week of school. As you may already know, I will not be returning to school until March (maternity leave, for those of you who don't know). However, I thought I'd create this craftivity anyway in the hopes that someone out there will find it useful! Hehehe!

This craftivity is all about bus safety. It's so important that we teach our students about bus safety at the beginning of the year because kids often forget the bus rules and we want to make sure everyone is safe on their way to and from school!

My school bus craft and activities pack includes:
- template for school bus (with and without dotted lines)
- 2 Writing prompts (each made with both primary and secondary lines)
- Everything you need to make a class graph
- 2 different survey and recording sheets

I hope you enjoy it :)

By the way, I'm working on some cute craftivities for short vowel sounds! Stay tuned ;)

Summer Reading Charts

So my friend was given a plant when we were at a renovations store last weekend. They were giving away plants to mommies for mothers day. I told her to take my plant as I knew I wouldn't be able to care for this thing. I just don't have the green thumb!

Well, she forgot it at my house so I was stuck caring for it all week. I was doing good, though. I really was!
Here is a picture of this little plant after 3 days of being in my care:

And here is a picture of it today:

I really don't know what happened... I watered it every day and kept it next to a window. Now I have to break this news to my friend! Oh boy!

Good thing I am more talented in the teaching world! HA!

Speaking of, I have a FREEBIE for you today :)
It's a pack of summer reading motivation charts!

You can grab yourself a copy!

Good News!!

I'm so excited! I just found out that I will be teaching grade one next year. Yay!!
I loved teaching resource this year but I've been looking forward to going back to my own classroom. When I found out that my school was opening a new grade one class, I didn't think twice about applying for the job! I'm not going back to work until March but I'm glad to be getting my own class when I go back :)

I also have exciting news regarding my products today! I have finally decided to open my Teachers Notebook store :)
I'm working on uploading all my products to my new store and I look forward to selling my creations in 2 places now!

I've added a few items to my stores, including this Summer Practice Pack.
You can find it at my TPT store HERE and my TN store HERE.
Let me know what you think ;)

In other news, I stumbled on an amazing idea for the last 10 days of the school year on Pinterest today. Check it out!

The idea is from a super cute blog called First with Franlkin. Click on the picture to read all about it. I'm definitely saving this idea for next year :)

I'm going to be visiting my school tomorrow. I can't wait to see my kiddies and work buddies!! I've only been home for 2 months but I feel like I've been out of school forever! Maternity leave is awesome and I'm really enjoying my time with my new baby but it will be nice to see everyone at work and show off little guy tomorrow! Yay :)

End of Year Celebrations - A Linky Party!

The end of the year is right around the corner!
I know, I know... For some of you it's already here. Don't rub it in! Hahaha!

I thought I'd share some of my favorite ways to celebrate the end of the year with my students. I do these things with whatever grade level I am teaching. Who doesn't enjoy some good-old blowing bubbles in the school yard?? Hehehe!

That's right, you guessed it! My very favorite thing to do with my kiddies at the end of the year is blowing bubbles in the school yard. I always keep it a secret until the last week so that they don't expect it. (I've been able to pull this secret off every year simply because I have been teaching at different schools so my kiddies never know what's coming!)
I usually just buy a bunch of bubble-blowing tools at the dollar store and I fill a huge jar with soapy water. What a very inexpensive celebration activity!

There's something about blowing bubbles that just gets everyone in a good mood :)

Another fun activity that I do every year with my kiddies is a treat! I always buy a big box of popsicles and take them outside before the buses arrive. I never spend much money on good-bye gifts because I know most of them will not last the ride home. Instead, I spend on a cold yummy treat that I can enjoy with them.
We don't have AC in our schools and June can get pretty hot in our classrooms (our last day is June 22nd). My kiddies always jump for joy when they see this treat coming their way!

Another favorite of mine is Reader's Theater. I give my students their scripts and have them practice with their groups a few times in the morning. In the afternoon, I surprise them by bringing them in the school yard to present their plays outside. We usually find a nice spot in the shade and share our presentations there. They love it!
I always let them know that if they behave and do a good job (sometimes they may get a little too excited since they are outside) they will get to "Read to Someone" outside tomorrow. I never have any problems this way ;)

I have seen so many different games and treats done at this time of year. Some schools have "Fun Days", some teachers like to spoil their students one last time, and some like to spend quality time. I'd love to see what YOU do in your classroom during the last days of school so please share and link up with me!

A little bit of this, A little bit of that!

I'm finally home!! Yipeeeee!
My little guy was born with minor complications and I had to stay at the hospital for an extra 2 weeks. It was not easy... I bet it's every parent's worst nightmare to get that kind of news once your little bundle of joy is born! The good news is my little guy is all better now and we are finally home :)

Last night was Nate's first soccer practice. There is nothing cuter than a bunch of 3 year-old kiddies running after a ball! Haha!
We had a blast and I can't wait for the next practice :)

In other news, I've been nominated for an award! I was contacted by e-mail last week with this amazing news. Whether I win or not, it is an honor to have been nominated for this! Thanks a bunch :)

Baby News and New Units

Hello bloggy friends!

It's been a while since I've posted anything... I've been quite busy! I'm still at the hospital with my little guy... He was breathing very fast when he was born so the nurses had to keep an eye on him. He's doing much better now but he has to finish an antibiotics treatment so I'll be living at the hospital until some time next week.

Look at this little guy! Isn't he precious???
I'm in LOVE!

He looks so much like his brother it's crazy!! My husband says they are twins born 3 1/2 years apart! HA!

Alright, enough showing off my baby and on to some new products!!

Teacher Appreciation Jackpot

UPDATE: Jackpot is now closed. The good news is you can still get my products on sale for the next 2 days. Everything in my store will be at 28% off! Yipee for Teacher Appreciation Sales!!!

Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week, and Sunday, May 6th is sure to be your lucky day! I'm excited to announce the very first Teacher Appreciation Jackpot, an amazing "blog hop" event involving over 130 bloggers!

We wanted to show our appreciation for you in a BIG way, so we've all agreed to give away one of our TeachersPayTeachers products for free on that day! Each free gift will be valued at between $3 and $8, so the total jackpot amount is estimated to be over $600! We'll post the actual amount on Saturday, May 5th.

Because so many bloggers are participating, this event will be divided into three grade level groups. Each of those smaller events is being coordinated by one blogger as shown below:

At the bottom of this post is the link up for this amazing event :o)

I'm also having a HUGE sale that will last 3 days! So if there are other products that you want from my store, this would be a good time for you to stock up ;)

Happy Shopping!!
