Penguins GALORE!

Hi everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday break! I'm still on break from school this week but I have jumped right back into my planning for 2014 and I can't wait to show you what I have up my sleeve this year!

Today, I'd like to share my penguins unit with you!

I really loved the way our Holidays Around The World unit was laid out so I decided to try my hand at a non-fiction unit for my penguins theme. I'm very excited about this because I put a lot of hours into it and I think my kiddies are really going to enjoy it!
I mean, who doesn't love penguins, right??

I created an information book on 10 different penguin species. Each species has 5 pages of information on height, habitat, diet, predators, and fun facts!

Here are a few screen shots of the Emperor penguin pages:

I also made some activity sheets for each penguin.
Students can fill these out after learning about each species.

We will also be working on some mini books! I love these because they will be perfect for the end of our unit. I will be using them for comprehension assessment once we have learned about all 10 penguins! They will make a great keepsake for our portfolios :)

Finally, I couldn't resist including a fun craft in my unit!

You can find this pack at my TPT store. It will be on sale for the next 24 hours.

I'll be back soon to show you pictures of this unit in action :)

Later gators,
